Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: SE (Thames)
Within Civil Engineering England and Wales, part of the Group Infrastructure Division, vacancies exist for a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Environment Agency Framework contracts in the SE.
Role & Responsibilities
On a day to day basis, the role reports directly to the Commercial Manager. You will have overall responsibility for the day to day commercial activities within the Framework Contract. The role is also supported by Administrative staff.
Key roles include liaising with the Head Office Estimating, Buying and Production staff together with ensuring accurate site records are reported by the site teams.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills along with a pro-active approach to achieving pre-determined deadlines for monthly reporting on all of the commercial aspects associated with the EA framework contract. The role will include regular weekly reviews of cost and value with monthly financial analysis and forecast meetings with the Management team. Whilst the positions will be site based or from a suitable Regional Office, the Framework Contract expands across England and Wales.
Duties will include:
• Sub contract and design procurement
• Management of performance measures including KPI’s
• Management of the production of all contracts/subcontracts etc
• Working closely with the Project Manager on all commercial and contractual issues
• Reporting to Framework Commercial Manager
• Responsible for forecasting / cost loading of schedule
• Managing contractual issues on project
• Management of the risk process
• Liaison with the Environment Agency
• Liaison with Environment Agency Cost Consultants on Cost Audits
• Estimating / Target Cost development skills is essential
Experience Required
Working with EA framework contracts with a minimum of 10 years commercial experience and ideally currently operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction/civils engineering.
The opportunity is to join a growing management team and to grow with the business, whilst also playing a key role in the business development of the EA Framework Contract.
Similar position held previously, member of Professional body, RICS or ICES, must have good working knowledge and experience with the NEC form of contract. Ability to work on a National Level and as part of a multi disciplined team.
Qualifications: Degree level qualified, Preferably BSc / HND in Quantity Surveying; Ideally Professionally Qualified
